Kat Gordon has been called a “triple threat” of an entrepreneur, ad woman + marketing to women expert and was named one of the 30 most creative women in advertising by Business Insider in 2016.
Beginning her career in market research, Kat made an about face into creative and had a long career as a copywriter/creative director spanning both coasts, several agencies, and dozens of freelance clients. She considers this left brain/right brain duality to be her secret weapon and critical to her success in launching The 3% Conference.
Kat’s agency life had shown her a lack of female creative directors. Her entrepreneurial life had shown her the undeniable power of the female consumer. After wondering why no one was addressing the galactic opportunity of taking female consumers seriously, Kat challenged her industry to wake up by launching The 3% Conference in 2012, earning her these words of praise from industry legend Cindy Gallop:
“We’re here today because Kat Gordon decided to do something that no other institution in our industry has done, even the ones that are meant to be the guardians and champions and challengers of creativity. Nobody from The One Show, The Creative Circle, the Clios, the DNAD, the Art Directors Club – nobody has ever challenged the lack of women in creative departments in our industry before. Kat Gordon is doing something about it because she is challenging the status quo because this is what women do. We challenge the status quo because we are never it.
Kat’s role as Founder of The 3% Conference has earned her many accolades, including one of Forty over 40 women disrupting the world, recipient of the Wall St. Journal Marketers That Matter Award, inclusion in Adweek’s 2017 “Disrupters” issue, one of Business Insider’s 30 most creative women in advertising, a Proclamation from the Commission on the Status of Women at City Hall in San Francisco, BizBash’s Most Innovative People in Events and Meetings, and the Change Agent award from AdColor.
